Kiki's
play group meets on Friday mornings directly across from
where the World Trade Center once stood.
A
majority
of the women in the group come from the islands
from Japan and Ireland, Long Island and Rhode Island.
Perhaps they are drawn to the water. They also come
from places like Venezuela, South Korea, Iran, Vancouver
British Columbia, Westchester and L.A.
They
have in common a certain strength and optimism. But
mostly, they share a concern for their new children
Hector
and Yasuhito, Skyler, Kianna, Alannah, Rachel and Taku.
Lest we forget, Celia and Cate, Connor and Kian.
For getting
them to eat their peas and carrots, for setting
limits and for coping with life in Battery Park
City in 2002.
